Part of Easingwold's charm is the number of small independent businesses, amongst them various coffee and refreshment outlets. At the moment it's difficult to believe that we need more coffee outlets but it appears that Costa Coffee disagrees (Northern Echo 16th Jan 2017).
Some might argue this brings new employment opportunities and ensures the old HSBC building is put to good use; but surely the addition of a large generic chain potentially threatens the future of our existing outlets and risks damaging the unique character of the town. Here's the HDC application (67 objections so far at the time of writing). Comments are closed.
