Work has begun on the Kier development "Hambleton Chase", off the Stillington Road, between Easingwold Town Football Ground and Leasmires Avenue. The background to this is controversial due to the original proposal from Gladman being rejected both by Easingwold Town Council and Hambleton District Council. However, this was overturned on appeal in 2015. Kier are planning to build 175 new homes, including 88 in the "affordable" category.
Sales are expected to start May 2018 Kier Hambleton Chase, with completion of the site due Spring 2022 - here's the site plan (issued Aug 2016). But what about our new supermarket planned for the York Road? Jomast finally got the go ahead in 2014 but it seems that ship has sailed due to the fall off in the building of new large supermarkets. In 2016 Jomast began pushing for a "revised mixed use development". There would still be a petrol station, a smaller convenience store and some "health related use" but also the addition of 80 houses - Jomast Mixed Use Proposal. This is currently under appeal.
